Not all risers are equal and can vary considerably due to the absence of any properly defined ILF standard. It is all the more remarkable that the majority of ILF limbs from the various manufacturers achieve acceptable limb/limb pocket fit.  However good limb fit predicts limb bow alignment and consistent bow alignment dictates a predictable arrow centre on the bow and that affects accuracy and bow tune directly.

 In addition to the variations of fit on new risers there is also the problem of limb fit and bow alignment / arrow centre on older risers that have seen heavy service and show signs of wear in the dovetail slots.

We have introduced a range of dovetails that in our experience fits Samick, Hoyt, and W&W limbs as well as our own. The addition of our range of custom Dovetails will also enable the archer to improve fit on risers outwith the selection above and take up the slop in risers that show wear.  Our standard Dovetail fitting has a control diameter of 10.98mm to fit an 11mm slot.

Our range of custom fit dovetails  have  control diameters as follows: 11.05, 11.1, 11.15, 11.2 and 11.25mm diameters.

The control diameter is across the shoulders of the body, where it meets the limb, not the flanged part of the dovetail.  This is where the left/right alignment comes from.  The flange is to stop the limb escaping the riser should a string failure happen.

Risers that are worn, or of different tolerance will benefit from tighter alignment with these.  We have an in house fitting service or you can order the sizes you need.  You can order two different sizes if your riser pockets are different to each other, top pocket to bottom, or two the same size. Standard sizes we issue in our limbs are 10.98mm
